Hobart always feels like a breath of fresh air — and after a quick 20-minute taxi ride from the airport ($31–$37 depending on traffic), we arrived at Crowne Plaza Hobart, right in the middle of everything. It’s modern, tall, and easy to spot from a mile away. I’d booked a suite for a bit of luxury, and honestly, it delivered.

Suite Life
Our suite was spacious, bright and calming — floor-to-ceiling windows, a big comfy bed, and a deep soaking tub right by the window. It felt like a proper retreat after exploring all day.
The décor was clean and neutral, with thoughtful little touches. Definitely the kind of room you look forward to coming back to.
Dining and Drinks
We had dinner at Core Restaurant — the local produce was the hero, and the oysters were top-notch. Breakfast was included, and while there was a minor hiccup at check-in about it, it got sorted quickly. The Deck bar was a favourite — sipping Tassie wine with mountain views is something I could get used to.
Surrounding Areas
You can’t beat it. Salamanca Market, Mona ferry, Farm Gate Market — all within walking distance. The hotel’s Club Lounge also impressed, especially during sunset with wine and canapés.

The Not-So-Great Bits
Soundproofing wasn’t perfect — we could hear faint noise from nearby bars and occasional hallway chatter at night. Also, a minibar charge popped up after checkout (quickly fixed, but still annoying).
Final Word: Effortless Comfort with a View
Despite minor issues, Crowne Plaza Hobart felt like the perfect city base. Stylish, central, and relaxing — a lovely mix of comfort and convenience. I’d easily recommend it, especially for couples or solo travellers after a bit of quiet luxury. Overall, I’d give it a strong 9 out of 10.
